Advice and Guidance
We provide answers to the broadest range of employment law questions and problems. Our aim is to clearly identify the legal issues involved, then provide advice and support to clients that will minimise, or at least control, potential problems or risks.

We provide advice through a combination of telephone, fax or email and when required we meet with clients face to face. We know the importance of advising on the available options and associated risks and suggesting the best way forward. To ensure nothing is overlooked we routinely draft appropriate letters and documents for clients to use.

Our advice and guidance work includes:

  • employee recruitment, including terms and conditions of employment

  • disciplinary action and employee grievances

  • dealing with the absent or under performing employee

  • protecting confidential information and business interests

  • employee dismissals, including board room disputes

  • sick pay and maternity issues / pay

  • all forms of discrimination

  • redundancies and business reorganisations

  • TUPE and the Acquired Rights Directive

  • Working Time Regulations

  • data protection

  • employee benefits, including pensions and share option schemes

Employment Law Disputes and Litigation

Employment Tribunal claims
We represent clients, defending them against claims covering unfair dismissal, discrimination and sexual harassment, breach of contract, redundancy and wrongful deductions from pay. We are experienced and regular advocates in employment tribunals.

High Court proceedings
Our work includes disputes about 'gardening leave', restrictive covenants and the misuse of confidential information.

Dismissals and boardroom disputes
We advise on and negotiate the value of compensation or severance payments. We draft compromise agreements and advise on how to manage the dismissal, including any company law aspects and shareholder interests.

Employment Documentation and Procedures

The need for every employer to have up to date and correctly drafted contracts has never been greater. Our approach includes:

Employment Audit
Designed to review a client's existing employment contracts, documentation and employment procedures to identify problems and areas requiring updating or improvement.

Contracts of Employment
We specialise in drafting bespoke contracts of employment, policies and employee procedures. Our employee handbooks are written to reflect the actual needs of each client. In addition, we draft director service agreements, confidentiality, consultancy and agency agreements.

In-house Training and Workshops

With the emphasis on 'how to' rather than 'this is the law' we can deliver specific practical training for clients. In-house training provides managers and directors with a cost effective way of keeping up to date and obtaining new skills.
